HI GUYS, WOULDNT IT BE NICE FOR EBAY.PH MEMBERS TO GIVE SOMETHING TO CHARITY THIS CHRISTMAS? CALLING ALL MEMBERS THAT ARE INTERESTED TO FORM A GROUP TO DONATE SOME OLD STUFF THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SELL LIKE CLOTHES, TOYS, BOOKS, FOOD, GROCERY ITEMS OR GET SPONSORS TO DONATE. I HOPE SOMEONE COULD TAKE THIS RESPONSIBILITY, I HAVE MANY STUFF I WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO CHARITY... ALSO THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR EBAY.PH TO GET INVOLVE IN SOMETHING MEANINGFUL. HOPE THE EBAY.PH MEMBERS CAN INFLUENCE RESPECTED GROUP LEADERS LIKE (BRUM, KATANA, BACKMEECKS, PTO, PINK AND OTHER RESPECTABLE EBAYERS)TO SPARE SOME OF THEIR PRECIOUS TIME TO ORGANIZE AND RUN THE CHARITABLE GROUP. JUST COUNT ME IN...HOPE THIS THREAD WOULD INSPIRE SOME MEMBERS OF EBAY.PH TO GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY...
P.S. HOPE TO MEET YOU ALL IN EBAY EXPLAINED ON NOV. 18.
GREAT IDEA, I CAN SCHEDULE PICK UP WITHIN THE CITY. i SUGGEST FOR THOSE EBAYERS THAT LIVE NEAR EACH OTHER CAN HAVE A DESIGNATED PICK-UP POINT PARA HINDI TIME CONSUMING AND MA-MAXIMIZE YUNG PICK-UP..JUST EMAIL ME WHERE TO PICKUP THE ITEMS BASTA WITHIN THE CITY LANG HA...OTHER EBAYERS IN THE LUZON VIS/MIN CAN ALSO DO THE SAME(LIKE HAVING SOMEONE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AREA TO RECEIVE ITEMS AND HAVE IT SHIPPED VIA TRUCKING OR 2GO TO THE WAREHOUSE IN RETIRO Q.C. OR DIRECT TO THEIR CHARITY.
VERY GOOD IDEA BENGC !!! WHERE IS YOUR PLACE LOCATED? IS IT WITHIN MANILA? IF SO, I CAN HAVE THE ITEMS PICKED UP AT YOUR PLACE, YOU CAN BE THE DROP OFF POINT FOR OTHER EBAYERS NEAR YOU. PAKI GAWA NA LANG NG 2 COPIES OF THE LIST OF ITEMS AND KUNG SINU SINO ANG MGA NAGBIGAY PARA MAY RECORDS LANG BA, AND YUNG ISANG COPY PARA DIN MA SIGN NG DRIVER TO ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT OF THE ITEMS.
AT SANA NAKA TYPE DIN SA SHORT BOND PAPER PARA MAY ISANG STANDARD YUNG LIST NATIN...
CAN WE ASK EBAY.PH TO WRITE A FORMAL LETTER REGARDING THIS CAUSE SO THAT WE CAN SEND TO OTHER POTENTIAL SPONSORS? ALSO PWEDE BA TAYO GAWA NG TSHIRT AND BANNER PARA SA ARAW NG GIFT GIVING AY MAKILALA YUNG EBAY.PH AS THE ORGANIZER N SPONSOR OF THIS CHARITY... JUST A THOUGHT LANG.....SANA MAY MAGHANDLE NITO....
Huh? Thanks styles but i guess you're the perfect Representative for the "Northern Connection" Heheheh!!! Pakipadala kunalamu deng contributions ku keka neh?
grabe mr v hindi ako rich ha, hahahaha! sa books maybe, but not sa rice =D
my hubby's office is in new manila, qc, siguro i will have him bring stuff a bit at a time (kawawa naman kasi ang tagabitbit ko hehe), then pag complete na, i'll ask for pickup =)
i know there are some qc ebayers so i'll coordinate with them na lang. i don't really know anyone here in cavite kasi aside from my daughter's teachers hehehe...
Thanks for the post... Yes, textbooks are welcome. Even the notebooks. Just let me know estimated inventory (eg. # of books, notebooks) so I can approximate if it'll fit in our bicycle bag carriers. Please text me at 09178267894 where I can call or coordinate this.
I'm scheduling an end of the month and xmas ride... We can drop-off your books together with some other books we will be bringing.
naku di ko kayang magpick-up sa cainta, only within Mla. kasi yung car and driver available lang bet. 130 to 330 pm. Wait Ill ask my dad if available yung van niya, I know he makes deliveries in cainta baka pwede bring duun sa customer niya yung mga goods or daanan niya kung malapit...Tanong ko muna.
Hey, I have books too.. Pink, can I just drop those at your hubby's office instead? Don't worry konti lang yun.. hehe. Para one time pick up nalang for the bicycle bag carriers?
sure steph, no prob =) just tell me when you're ready to go para you can ask hubby for directions =)
thanks andrea! will prepare the books and stuff this weekend =) can you also take other stuff like school shoes and bags? small lang naman po don't worry, hehe di ako magpapadala ng trolley bags =D
Great idea on your Christmag gift-giving charity event!
If I'm nearby, I would love to help out but since I'm afar, can I offer some suggestions?
CONTACT INFORMATION 1) Since there are interested Ebayers on this event, ask them to send you an email with their contact information. This way, you can contact them on and off this board, for faster processing.
MAILING LIST 2) Once you have all the emails, you can then create a mailing list and send a mass email to notify all of them of any progress of the event. In addition, you can post your messages here as well.
CUT-OFF DATE & OTHER IMPORTANT DATES 3) It is best to set a cut-off date for accepting gifts as well as the date of when you will disburse your gifts. That way, all of you can plan your schedule accordingly esp. that people tend to get busy as Christmas draws near. People who will join the actual distribution of gifts will also be notified in advance.
ADVERTISING/ENDORSEMENTS 4)It's pretty hard to get an official endorsement from Ebay for this event. You need to contact Singapore on that or send an email to their Customer Support. What I noticed here in the US, actual Ebayers first form an Ebay group within their area/local, ex. New York Ebayers and then just annex their group name as the organizer of the event. It's a good idea that you wear shirts with Ebay on them or something, like you said for advertisement purposes.
Ebay Giving Works is the charity arm of Ebay. Sellers can list items and pick their own charity recipient, of which a % of the sale (or a minimum of $5)will be automatically deducted from the final sale and given to seller's choosen charity. I think this is not available to Ebay.ph yet.
EBAY.PH GROUP 5) You can ask brum2000 or if you are a member of the ebayph group, you can send an invite to all members with just one email. You can ask Katana about it.
Thanks for the advise shopcebu... I Am actually pretty busy this time of year, monitoring 6 retail outlets, doing purchasing, inventory, marketing and logistics but am willing to devote some of my time for the cause.... I have already enlisted the help of my Aunt and cousin to accept the donations and do the seggregation process. I am also solicting items from my suppliers if they have something they would like to donate, so I really need help in doing this... Like coordinating stuff or something... Hope you guys can help.
I will be posting na lang updates here, cant read na individual emails...Hope u guys can spread the word, I have talked to my aunt and accepting of donations can be done the whole year and not for xmas only.
I will be posting some of the charitable institutions in Manila as soon as I get the list.
And to all those attending ebay explained, I can pick up some of the donations from those who cant bring the items theselves to Q.C.
Just want to ask who're the people we're going to donate to? Kasi we're selling sporting goods, so I think I can donate badminton racquet sets.. What do you think?
just tell me when we can pick up at cainta, I will sked my dad's van to pick it up when they make a delivery in cainta. also inform me of the complete address.
ei steph, no specific charities yet eh...perhaps we can have the badminton sets donated to a children's/juvenile center or an orphanage, if there are some in the list mr. v has =)
suggestion, i think it will be more convenient and more fulfilling if the donor will give directly to the donee. Plus the fact that you choose the institution that you liked most. kasi some prefer to give to the oldies kasi matanda na sila, some naman says christmas is for children and some would say sa mga pilay na lang kasi kawawa. So para lahat mabigyan, give it to whomever you like. The donations need not be centralized, it can work independently.
I guess, someone will just have to prepare an official letter or document coming from the organizers of this "charity work" bearing the ebay.ph logo whenever a donation is made to any charitable institution, so that they may know who made it all possible. then the success of this will all be measured by the number of thank you's received by the commitee.
So that everyone can participate whether you are from the northern part of southern part of the Philippines. It should be no problem for you to give.
Ofcourse, no letter will be given to the donees who are in the streets. this is the silent and most meaningful donation. having no one know that you gave something.
lastly, para hindi na rin masyado maabala si Mr.V kasi 6 retail shops is a tough task. And the gasoline and effort to pick up items, and the segregation of all the items. and ofcourse, you cannot accomodate all.
even how small your items are, im sure the church, bahay-ampunan, ngo's, or whatever institution will receive it since it came from your heart.
jonathan, kaya nga some of my stuff kina andrea ko na papabigay, on their bike rides to far-flung barrios. i don't go out much kasi so andrea is actually doing me a favor by giving the stuff for me =)
the centralized drop-off/segregation point is for those people who have stuff to give, but no time to do it. it's just an option naman, not mandatory that we give ONLY to that drop-off point =)
yah, pero youll go through a lot of trouble if you have a centralized drop off point. Plus youll have to choose the charitable institutions pa.
Anyways, to those people who cannot afford to make it to the centralized drop off point but wants to give on behalf of this charity event, i think a simple letter would do.
Afterall, the real objective of this event is giving.
Afterall, the real objective of this event is giving.
exactly. so it doesn't matter whether you give your gifts directly (like i am having andrea do for me, thanks andrea!) or through a centralized drop-off point. mr. v's aunt has generously offered her place for stashing everything PLUS sorting the items as well.
everyone can give. the drop-off point offered by mr. v is simply for those who don't have the time or do not know which charities to give to. it's their choice if they will give their stuff to mr. v or distribute it themselves.
i'm guessing that some people will, like me, bring stuff to the drop-off point as well as giving stuff to specific charities/organizations on their own. my daughter's school organizes a party for street children as well as a visit to a senior citizens' home, but for them i prefer to give brand-new gifts and food items.
i agree. how about others members who cant send the item to mr.v? they will have to organize their own drop off point also? like the active ebayers in pampanga, tarlac, zambales area. Give them authorization that whatever they give is from ebay.ph then this event will be very successful kasi no donation is unaccounted. la lang. suggest lang.
i think the northern ebayers will be organizing their own drive, led by pedokstore and booley. mr. v's offer is only for metro manila ebayers naman, especially ones in the qc area, very convenient for them =)
danranin suggested a sort of synchronized nationwide ebay evnt, next year siguro na lang, because as angel also pointed out, such a big event would take some time to coordinate, possibly as early as march siguro.
i'm not really giving as an ebay.ph member, i'm just well, giving hehehe. andrea and her bike buddies are just going to let my stuff hitch on her regular bike runs. supposedly ba dapat formal from ebay.ph pa? i might have missed that part ah...
From what i understood kasi calling all "ebay.ph members", so i assumed we represent ebay.ph. hehe. kasi forming one group per area is too much trouble and too much work for the persons involved. Christmas is also the season of thirteenth month pay, and everyone has extra dough to spare, so i guess the full time ebayers would love to also concentrate their time in selling rather synchronizing time, scheduling pick ups and segregating used clothes. Besides one nation giving under the consent of one committee (ebay.ph) has a huge impact and awareness of what this community is really all about.
The point kasi here is we are going to give to them, meaning tayo lalapit sa kanila kaya no point in organizing a centralized drop off point at pagsamasamahin pa yung mga items. If you really want to give, i think a few hours of your time is enough already to finish the good deed. if you dont know where and what insitution, try asking for suggestions here on the board.
Maybe next year what you guys do is to create a one day ebay.ph event wherein all members are invited (some sort of a christmas party also) and all charity owners are invited. this way mas may sense yung pagsasama samahin natin yung resources. By doing this, it will also benefit every member since magkakaron ng exposure ang ebay.ph.
Since i live near the area of your aunt, i will just drop off my donations there directly. thank you for thinking ofothers during this special season!
In order to organize ourselves, we CAN probably ask Ebay when they come here on the 18th of this month, what we can do as an organization for next year.
Your efforts for this year, mr V, will not go unnoticed. Even if I personally know you, and that you are one of the busiest people around, it really is an inspiration for all of us here on Ebay.ph that you have thought of this, in order to share with the less fortunate. Perhaps this "testing" ground will help us further this concern by next year, and organize it into a full-blown affair.
Now, however, let us just take what we have WITHOUT FANFARE, and share it with others who need it more! Peace and good tidings, bro!
if you read my earlier posts, initially what we planned was a party or event where we would personally give out the gifts. i asked for suggestions for charitable organizations to focus on. nobody had any suggestions. nobody wanted to head up a committee for it. tempted ako but my health right now is unpredictable. so i just went with what the majority decided. everyone else wanted the collective drop-off idea so i am giving na din for that since i can have hubby drop them off.
it's the giving part that counts naman di ba? drop-off point or not, it doesn't matter. it's really the person's choice =)
we don't need to give the stuff personally naman. i don't need to be thanked or given acknowledgement, okay na sa akin basta i know that someone out there was a bit cheered by my gift. i just don't know any charities or whatnot aside from the ones chosen by my daughter's school, so if mr. v has a list of charities my stuff can go to, so much the better. i can't go to far-flung barrios to give books and school supplies so i'll let andrea and her bike buddies do it.
we can't force people to donate their time. it's just a fact of life that some people have the time, some don't. what matters is that everyone here is doing their best to give what they can, from the heart =)
that's so right, pink! that is exactly what matters... that we give from the heart - that's why it would be a good idea to have this organized well for next year. for this year, we can just give and share what we can. It's a free country, after all!
yup backee, kulang kasi sa time. perhaps for next year we can ask angel for tips since he has experience =) para di na mashado abala for mr. v, kawawa naman kasi sha =)
Hi Backmeeks!!! Just to clarify lang... na you can donate to any insitution that you liked most or nearest your area. I am not requiring that you course your donation through me. Its like PINK said what I am offering lang is for Metro Manila ebay.ph who dont have the time to go personally to those places for the donations, or nahihiya kasi konti lang ibibigay nila. At least if in bulk maganda tingnan...
Anyways, its up to you guys what you want to do, for me kasi every year I give yung mga old stocks ko to charity kaya naisipan ko lang i-extend yung reach to other people who want to give but dont have the time or they dont know where to give.
And naiisip ko lang since we are all ebay.ph members and would like solidarity in our group kaya ko lang naisip ito. Gusto ko lang marecognize yung group ng ebay.ph not as buyers and sellers lang but also givers din...This is not for ones' recognition or personal gain, alam ni backmeeks how busy I am and it really takes a good deal of my time and resources to be able to do this, but masaraplang lang talaga yung feeling na nakakatulong ka sa mga nangangailangan kahit sa maliit na paraan.
Hello again Backmeeks, c u sa shangrila makati on the 18th.
hi mr.v hehe oo nga mejo mas maganda kasi tingnan pag in bulk, probably why at my daughter's school they collect in boxes per class para hindi mahiya ang students if they only have a few packs of noodles or coffee to give.
don't worry po, for next year, mag-oorganize na kami early, para less hassle na for you =) perhaps we will ask you na lang for a list of charities and contact info.
see you on the 18th, a lot of us in this thread are going to be there as well! =D
we can talk about that soon, sa mga meetings or java sessions. we are now trying tofocus on thehere and now of giving this Christmas.
actually, i want to take this up with ebay nga, so that ebay.ph will have a reg ular outreach for the elss fortunate - be it christmas, or whatever month - parang when someone or some people are in need, we can show them that we will try to help out...
that's a great idea backee! mas maganda pa sana if we have nurses or doctors here or kahit dentists lang to offer free checkups =)
my mom organized one dati for the pta, one of the parents owned a salon, so she had a team of hairdressers giving free haircuts as well hehe, nice di ba? that was during the landslide or something sa quezon about 2 years ago i think. aside from the usual clothes and food, we put together grooming kits kasi nga naman those people lost their homes, so di na nila naasikaso bumili ng shampoo, soap, toothpaste etc.
anywho...tomorrow i will start preparing books and school stuff for andrea na.
hehe will you be attending the morning session backee? kasi di ba the powersellers have their own session in the afternoon. ay, will you be getting your powerseller kits?? hehe exciting =)
mr. v, we can give you the donations at ebay explained din di ba? perhaps one of 2 bags, okay lang? =)
HELLO EVERYONE, HI PINK, yes i can collect whatever can fit my van. hehehe.
As I have said previously, My Aunt in Q.C. will accept donations all year long, she in deeply involve in charity work, thats why she is so happy and glad that we brought up this charity thing to her. And she is very pleased to help out.
