If i have a paypal card and a pay pal debit card and a US bank account and also a international creit card why can't i sell things from the PH and have people from the US or other countries ues there pay pal if they want to buy from the PH web site and if i am selling PH things????
I was at an eBay On The Road seminar last night in Toronto Canada, and a PayPal employee was there. Several questions were asked about the differences between PayPal in Canada and the US. The bottom line was that PayPal works with the banking and credit card communities in each country to make sure that all the laws are adhered to.
So I'm guessing that either PayPal hasn't been able to comply with PH law yet, or else they haven't finished the investigation to make sure they CAN comply. I got the impression that these things take time, but that PayPal would like to be everywhere as soon as they can.
I also got the impression that they listen to their customers, so send an e-mail to ebay.ph asking for PayPal in the Philippines. Using this link will work best, I think: http://www.ebay.ph/helpForm
I actually emailed Paypal regarding this matter before but they sent me automatic response stating that Paypal is offered only in the following countries and no, the Philippines isn't one of them and they're looking into expanding in the near future... Hmmmm.
ps. clicking on 'check spelling' and 'preview' buttons just give me error messages. glad that eBay has finally arrived here in the Philippines!
I've been bugging PayPal ever since Ebay took out the Ebay payments the other year and they've said that due to the high incidence of CC fraud committed in the Philippines they are finding ways to protect themselves first.
Iwas at the launching dinner party of eBay.ph in Makati 2 days ago and of course the #1 question was why no PayPal here in Phils??The answer we got from the eBay rep was that as long as Philippines is still on the US watchlist of money laundering countries, PayPal can't come here.It will definitely take a while before they do come here.....
Xoom.com (no, I'm not shilling for them, LOL) uses the Paypal platform, but they're positioned as a remittance service. I did email them previously and they said that yes, they can be used as a payment service for eBay. Anyone with a Paypal account can use xoom.com to send money to the Philippines. They're partnered with Equitable PCIBank. The fees are higher, though, compared to regular Paypal. I signed up with them, but noticed that while they will let me get paid, they won't let me send money to the US to pay for my eBay purchases. Oh well. It's a start.
Okay guys, if you are a seller and have problems getting paid because you dont have a paypal account. Try using Cash2Philippines.com ( paypal verified ) partnered w/ BPI bank and Aboitiz Express. I think they are cheaper than xoom.com. Hope to have PAypal here soon. God Luck to you all! Yehey! Ebay Philippines.
User beware on Cash2Philippines.Com though. They have very poor customer support, and are very wary of Filipino users. I know someone who was selling a lot of items on eBay and uses Cash2Philippines.Com as a form of payment, since his items were fast-moving, his account with C2P was also, obviously, fast-moving. C2P said emailed and called all of his customers saying that he was a fraud and that his transactions were very doubtful. By the way, Xoom.Com owns Cash2Philippines.Com. Think of it as a BigMac and a Burger McDo. One caters to a higher class and charges higher fees compared to the other that caters to a lower class with lower fees.
okay official statement from PayPal after a private email conversation, I will only say what can be shared
- The reason they are not 'yet' offering services in the Philippines is because of the local Philippine Banks required partner-percentage for PayPal. It is too high for PayPal who gets their revenue in the 'charge rates'. If the banks will take almost all of it, then PayPal will earn so little in the Philippines.
According to them, they will keep on negotiating with the Philippine Banks as they see the market in the Philippines to be high and the country is an asset in the world of e-commerce. -
Hope that helps, PayPal is not the problem, it's the banks.
Heck look, I am paying for 3 website hosts, own 3 domains, with added perks, buying and selling products and services online and guess what? I am still using my friend's credit card, why? Because Metrobank and Equitable PCI Bank do not want to approve my CC application. They are so strict no I can't even call it 'strict' but it's very dumb and stupid of them coz they just lost a customer.
See what kind of banks we have here? They only want the Class A people (lol they thought just because I don't own a business does it mean I am Class E haha, well, the Philippines, CRAB-MENTALITY and always LOOKS DOWN ON PEOPLE)
Why not try Bidpay!!! I previously bought collectible coins from 2 reputable sellers based in the Philippines who are using the service and the transaction went smoothly. Seller: aninif ( 1452), gracehouse1 ( 358) and my_favorite_things_2003 ( 286)

At last eBay is now here sa Asia. So the main topic is selling and in short you need a payment processor right? There are so many payment processors out there but before deciding to get one please beware of PayPal. PayPal is staffed by thieves. PayPal is now going down. Visit http://www.paypalsucks.com and http://www.donttakepaypal.com and http://www.paypalwarning.com This is just a concerned reminder to all of you in advance. Paypal has a class action lawsuit. If you want a reliable payment processor, try StormPay: http://www.stormpay.com the only drawback is their high transaction fees but signup is free. Besides you can only accept VISA and MAstercards. There's another a lower transaction fees only 2% and you can accept VISA, Mastercards, American Express, Maestro, Carte Bleue, etc.. It's PaySwiss. I have written an article about it, visit and read: http://swisspay.tripod.com
I am refering to this URL "http://swisspay.tripod.com" w/c when i clik gets into another URL the http://freeshops.tk ... so is the swisspay.tripod.com still active??
