13 RED FLAGS To Warn a Bidder of a Fraudulent Transaction
Most people who are defrauded are victims of their own greed. When a transaction appears to be too good to be true, it likely is. Application of common sense can preserve your money.
These are the 13 Red Flags to spot a fraudulent transaction:
1. A popular item is offered for a price which seems too good to be true 2. An 'off-eBay' transaction is conducted through email 3. Payment options provide little or no security for the buyer 4. Misleading claims of transaction security or buyer protection 5. Item is no longer listed on eBay 6. The sellers location may be a clue to a fraudulent transaction 7. Item is listed on a hijacked account 8. Free shipping from a distant country 9. No photo or stock photos are used 10. One to three day auctions 11. Escrow other than escrow.com is used 12. A fraudulent Second Chance Offer is sent 13. The bidder needs to be pre-approved or the item is listed in a private auction

my dear katana... or anyone out there who has been scammed.. how soon can i file foe a protection claim from ebay? does it really have to be 10 days after posting ended?
it is true! i myself have been scammed by a buyer.. it started with a low bid and only a few people bid on the bracelet. paid thru rcbc my wallet.still it was a scam.. the seller never posted the bracelet
now, i bought something from a ebayer ..told her i will pay for the product but have to wait for a few days for her account to have feedback since she sold a lot of bags with zero feedback. texted her that i want to wait.said she needed money right away. told her i can't do that and i want to wait or if she trust me, send the bag and i'll pay for it. said she doesn't want to spend on gas and want to send all her sales at one time only.until now no feedback have been left in her account.. but now, she filed a complaint in ebay against me.
the nerve.. this seller is so demanding and is very hard to talk to..
yes, the seller can file a complaint against the buyer but when i got scammed and emailed ebay to send letters to other buyers of the same seller to inform them that this seller is a scammer, ebay told me that to file a complaint, you need 10 days..well, 10 days is a long time for a buyer if she have been scammed
please be fair. buyers have a greater risk than buyer. it is our hard earned money at stake here!
Copy and Pasted from Page 1. From Katana's Post. ( I suggest you guys go back to page 1 and read the tips and advices they posted. Very great help.)
Please take note, so far most of the posts i read at the start of this thread, the bottom line, to ATLEAST protect ourselves is to NEVER TRANSACT OUTSIDE EBAY. (see post shared of most victims.)
" Since outside eBay transaction, there's very little help you can get from eBay. File a fraud report to eBay and if proven guilty, they will suspend the seller's account. That's the only help eBay can provide you with.
You can also ask help from these agencies instead:
For Cyber Crime / Computer Related Crimes Dial (632) 726-1575 Criminal Investigation & Detection Group / Email: cidg@pnp.gov.ph
This will not SURELY protect you, but ATLEAST you have grounds, traces, trails, whatever you want to call it if sadly things get ugly.
1. ITS BETTER NEVER PAY THRU G-CASH,WESTERN UNION or any means where you cant (or hard) trace the receiving end and on your side, you should have a proof of payment that the payment came from you.
check previous post, most victims paid thru g-cash, thats the fastest, no trace a scammer can have. they can always change sim or number (im no expert on this, these are just my 2 cents).
2. MAKE SURE THE PERSON YOU ARE TRANSACTING, IS THE SAME PERSON THE PAYMENT WILL BE DEPOSITED TO.
Heard and Read stories of people, depositing payments to the friend/relative/etc.. of the seller, because seller's excuse is that he/she doesnt have an account. VERY RISKY. logically speaking, if u transacted wid A, then u sent payment to B. then A will not send your item. you complain that A did not send, A will can always tell you he havent recvd payment. or if you complain to B, he will just deny it.
3. BE VIGILANT AND DO RESEARCH AND BE PATIENT.
If sellers shows you pics, try to analyze it, see if its not just grabed from the net. others myt not have cameras to take pic of it, but its up to you. anyone can just reason that out. take note of serial numbers, model parts# , etc.. if you have a way to verify this item to be real, then do so. Scanned IDs, documents, etc.. same.. if you have a way to verify them, do so.
These are just my opinions and these are based from my experience.
Wanted to share this, coz i almost got scammed (or not, i dont care, BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY), thank God, but because i did some research, i was able to assess that my transaction with the seller is considerably very risky and will not proceed.
