Their site is www.manilabox.com kaso laging machine sumasagot sa US number nila, and walang Philippine info. June 12 pa kasi pinadala ng mom ko. 22-27 days lang sa Alpha Cargo eh.
more than 2 months na wala pa rin. usually mga balikbayan box takes less than a month, maximum 35 days depends on your location. i checked the link you gave, it's a free website, i think they are just a small cargo company or maybe just starting (based in my experience, usually they are slower) if your mom is from southern california, better yet try more reliable company like www.manilaforwarder.com next time.
i have a question - what if i buy from ebay.com and request them to send the items thru balikbayan box, kelangan nila ideclare real value nun? will the customs check?
sis pag balikbayan box do you mean yung door to door like alpha cargo?
they can just declare it as personal effects kaso mga $500 lang insurance, but if you use a company like alpha cargo you need not worry... customs won't even open the box, no one will but you.
let me share with you. one time ang laman ng box ko brand new dell computer, lcd monitor, 3in 1 printer, tapos most of the time makeup, bags, colognes, iphone hehehe...
ok yun sis if someone will send you through that method. if they are in california, illinois, nevada, may alpha cargo. they just need to call for a box delivery tapos pag ready na, they will call for a pickup. make sure lang that all fragile items are packaged properly... naalala ko lang ate ko who just put things altogether, frying pan, coffee machine, hindi puno yung box so umalog alog, basag pag dating.
patawagan mo na lang sis sa magpapadala sayo if they can claim as personal effects... usually may packing list and all everyone writes down is personal effects... kahit pa 60 victoria secret colognes yun hehehe
i hope by now you have received your cargo box. The phone number of Manila Box is 7275331. I usually received my boxes from my mom (California) thru Manila Box. Just wondering why it took you 2 months? i am from quezon city, minsan nga 27 days lang nadedeliver na, sana mareceive mo na rin, godbless
pinoydom it happened last year after Christmas na yun.
Ang hirap tawagan ng office ng Manila Forwarders dito sa Manila. Either busy or ring lang ng ring. Una sabi my package was out for delivery na wait ko na lang. A week after wala pa rin sabi nasa customs daw nagkaproblem daw kasi sa broker? A week after, di pa daw dumarating barko. Naku inis na inis na ako, tuwing tumatawag ako palayo ata ng palayo ang box ko.
Hi shiseido_baby, You are correct that there was a problem last December 2007.
I was in Manila myself trying to make damage control because at that time, Monark Customs Brokerage was the one handling our Philippine operations and miserably failed during the last leg of the Christmas rush.
Before going back to the US, I had it rectified by establing our own companies, Legalas-Manila Forwarder Corp and Manila Forwarder Phil, Inc.
Our new Manila Office is strategically located inside the Port of Manila with enough telephone lines, US Voip, and YM. We also put up a 24/6 customer support line at 1.800.210.1019.
I apologize for such failure of my past agent, Monark Customs Brokerage, but rest assured that we are always listening to the public and clients and will always do our best to further improve our services worldwide.
FYI. We just opened up another location in San Francisco for SFO folks. Pls call Wally Cruz @ 510.7503036.
Salamat po and Mabuhay! Manny Paez www.manilaforwarder.com
My cousin from the UK sent us 3 balikbayan boxes thru Tagalog Balikbayan Forwarders last x-mas and they all arrived earlier than expected. It was Monark Brokerage who delivered our cargo here in Laguan and I believe they are the Philippine counterpart. Its quite odd dahil it has been 3 xmas seasons already that my Auntie sent boxes using their services. Pero wala akong masabing negative about their service, though sa phone calls medyo mahirap nga kumontak sa kanila. I guess pag pasko naman talaga lahat busy. Gusto ko lang ishare ang experience ko with them, dahil kung Phil. counterpart nang Manila Box Forwarders ang Monark Brokerage, then by entrusting them the customers boxes and magturo sila nang sisisihin is out of the question. Sa kanila kayo nagpadala so sino ang pagtatanungan nang mga tao kundi sa kumpanyang pinagpadalhan nila. Tama ba yun?
You are correct. I was in constant communcations with the owner of Tagalog Cargo in London, Mr. Gary Mills during that last years' christmas rush and even until now. He himself, who was in London at that time is having a hardtime making contact with Monark Customs Brokerage. He was just relying on me for information.
I, who flew to Manila, cannot also contact my partner, the owner of Monark Customs Brokerage.
So I mobilized my Travel Agency to receive the calls because I do not want to alarm the clients who have some boxes that is not yet delivered. But of course, they can only receive calls and offer comfort and assurance that I was there, the owner of Manila Forwarder USA, doing the best that I could as there was really a chaos at Monark.
I pitty all my staff answering the calls at that time as it was not their fault.
I was at the Paranaque warehouse everyday and even early mornings effecting the deliveries of Manila Forwarder boxes. I also delivered some boxes myself before going home around 4 am.
I have to use the passenger vans of my travel agency in Manila, TravelPH.Com. I also hired people and delivery trucks just to have the balikbayan boxes delivered even I already paid Monark Customs Brokerage for the job. I was caught unprepared but made the of the situation.
The owner of Monark Custom Brokerage is a good person and a good partner. Our company grew together. I am also a part of it. Until now, I never changed on my attachment to them.
My personnal assesment is that they were just overwhelmed with the volume of balikbayan boxes even there was enough time to prepare as I was there in Manila that September to check the system and was assured that we were ready for the volume of boxes coming in.
As a military man, I am used with SNAFU ( Situation Normal, All Fucked Up ).
I also think that he relied on the computer program that he developed for balikbayan box distribution that proved inadequate during the situation.
Luckily, I was able to find and bought an existing company to form my new company Manila Forwarder Phil, Inc and Legalas-Manila Forwarder Corp to deliver the rest of the remaining balikbayan boxes for the year.
It is a lesson that I would like to share to the balikbayan box public. It is important that the same company that you send your balikbayan boxes should have their own company in the Philippines to do the deliveries and should be totally responsible until delivery.
Not all balikbayan box sender was as lucky as Manila Forwarder clients because not all balikbayan box company owners take this things personally and would do anything possible for their clients. Luckily, too, I have some money saved to do this unplanned takeover of Philippine operations.
It is a common knowledge that other companies just derelect their duties and obligations because of profit or some other reasons without thinking of the welfare paying balikbayan box senders who entrusted their balikbayan boxes to them.
I have been approached by different goverment institutions both here in the US and in the Philippines how to resolve such issues.
In my case, the Philippine counterpart, Monark Customs Brokerage, has already been paid but failed to deliver the promise. However, most cases of non-delivery is that the foreign principal fails to pay the Philippine counter-part.
The Philippine Shipper's Bureau which protects the Filipino public from this have no jurisdiction on foreign principals.
Unscrupulous foreign principals, even bonded with the US Federal Maritime Commission can just disappear and hide in the Philippines with all the proceeds of the balikbayan box payments and the boxes themselves sold for a profit, leaving the poor balikbayan box victim with no recourse.
I conclude that the immediate solution to this problem is information campaign, like what I am doing via internet.
The next step needed, is for the public to be vigilant in analyzing each balikbayan box company that they would trust. When a company offers their balikbayan box service at a very low price, the public must be smart enough to know that it is up to something.
As an old Filipino saying goes, " Walang manloloko kung walang paloloko". ..There will be no scammers..if there is no willing victims.
hi...what would you recommend if packages would be coming from illinois, chicago? i bought some items and my sister will ship them here. do you have numbers i can call here in the Philippines? thanks
Doc Agnes, We have a program do that all your online orders will be consolidated and packed in a jumbo box by our Los Angeles office.
This will save you money and not bother your relatives in the USA to do the packing for you. It is a free service.
You also pay a lower fee compared to Mid-West and East Coast prices. It is also a lot faster as we have ocean containers leaving for Manila at least twice a week.
We also have a 5 day service for urgent shipments.
Thanks pinoydom. I have been looking for something like that, since I don't wanna bother relatives in the USA. Just wanna ask one question though...if i'll avail of that service...them, consolidating and packing my goods for me...am i assured that i will be getting all of the items i bought?
am i assured that i will be getting all of the items i bought?
doc_agnes320, may kilala ako, after the consolidation, nawala ang buong box sa manila forwarder.
in my own experience naman, may nawala na ilan items na. i used to get the consolidation /repacking services from manila forwarder before when i was still in the importing business.
ngek...yon nga iniisip ko, if people there are professional and trustworthy enough for the job.
argh! just when i thought solve na problem ko with regards sa hassle na asking relatives to receive goods for me just to save on shipping lalo na am still new with this stuff.
Of course you will get all your items. Each time you order on line, You will receive a tracking number from your store. It will indicate that it has arrived in our Los Angeles Office. It then get scanned in our Los Angeles office and you will be notified of its arrival.
Each client have a secured space in our warehouse (visit www.manilaforwarder.com to see ). You have 30 days free storage for consolidation.
Upon your instructions, we will pack and ship it to you via air or sea ( 5 days air and 30 days sea ). You will get a new set of tracking number via email with its Estimated Time of Arrival in Manila.
Rates is posted in our website.
I dont see any reason that you will loose an item or the whole package. If wonadawonderwoman, who appears to be new to forums with zero feedback, can be specific on her allegations, I will make an investigation and act on it.
Manila Forwarder staffs that handle this are all female graduates of Manila's exclusive schools and all coming from reputable families. This handling is all done in Los Angeles, CA. Each client have a specific account representative for accountability. I have seen them establishing good rapport with their clients.
It is rather important that all instructions were followed when ordering online. Make sure that your name appears in the shipping label from your online stores for us to identify that the package is yours. This is a very simple procedure that online store gladly oblidge when instructed.
Again,I do not see any reason not to enjoy online shopping. I suggest that everyone make more research than just believing unjustified accusations. I ask for fairness in posting and each posting be justified with facts.
I availed Manila Forwarder's service. I will let you know guys what happened to my items when it arrives. I bought too many items online which will be for their consolidation. I hope it will safely arrive.
pinoydom, i'll go check that out and i'll gonna hang on to your words...
well, i've just realized that maybe if they're meant to be lost, they will be lost kasi i have 3 items sent individually, siguro 1 day each lang pagitan, yung 2 are already here pero yung isa wala pa...
and i guess, there is no such thing as assurance...
Thanks. We can account for all the orders that we receive from your suppliers. You can see that too in the tracking number that was given to you by suppliers.
Pls let me know the details and we can trace it. You can also cc that to your account handler.
As in any shipping company, including FedEx, DHL, UPS and US Postal Service, sometimes the individual shipment, even ordered at the same time, if not shipped together by the online store in one package, will not arrive together.
I've been sending my boxes with Manila Box for more than 10 years, but for my last two shipments I was really disappointed. When they have problems with their agents here in our area, their clients are the one suffering like what happened to me. It happened to me the first time, it took over two months before my boxes got to my sister and I gave them another chance, hoping they won't do it again, since I am a good customer and I am with them for more than 10 years, and I am sending boxes at least 4 or 3 times a year. But they did it again, it just so frustrating that some people are not professional and never care about their business. I am planning to send a complain to the Better Business Bureau about Manila Box, California Office and Staff so my story will not happen to other people and I will go on my way to campaign not to use Manila Box Cargo.
Faye talaga? ba't naman 0 feedback ang gamit mong username dito? Baka gawa gawa mo lang yan to say something bad about Manila Box, matanong nga sila. So far okay naman experience ko with Manila Box, pagkadating dito sa atin sa Philippine dinedeliver agad.
Anyway, I inquired with Manila Box if they consolidate packages, they don't. But what they can do, if you have a big box you can send it to them from your supplier in the US tapos they will forward it dito. Ayaw nila magbukas at magconsolidate.
Basta ang maganda sa MB you can call them, text them, and you will get a quick reply or answer. Sa Manila Forwarders laging busy o kaya walang alam ang sumasagot.
How much naman kaya fee ng Manila Forwarders to consolidate items?
Mag Alpha Cargo na lang kayo Maganda lang sa Manila Box may free na small box.
I am using Manila Forwarders. First time pa lang. So far ok naman. Just waiting for my box to arrive. They do consolidate. I am satisfied with their communication. They assign 1 staff to handle all my items. Roselle replies to my email regularly. So im just hoping my box is ok. Will inform you guys if I received it on time and in good condition.
I have been following this thread regularly and I am interested with the consolidating services of manila forwarders. I have been browsing their website but couldn't find rates on how much I am going to pay for the consolidating work (it is only stated that they charge minimal for the service - i just want to know how minimal it is). I hope someone can tell me.
hi! i availed the large box, 4.5 cu/ft - 18"x18"x24". i paid $70 for shipping from LA to Manila plus $10 repacking fee. they did not charge me for the consolidation and storage, free daw for the 1st month. so i only paid $80. =)
