hi all, i hope someone from ebay reads this because i can't find the page where you report something suspicious. anyway, got an email from ebay user dkma342 and here's what it says:

Hello,

Regards"

the wierd thing is i haven't talked to this person, we haven't agreed on anything and i haven't given him/her my account information. how can he/she send any money to me? besides, i'm selling real estate on ebay, so talking to a buyer is certainly a thing i wouldn't forget. another thing is i've searched for this member and ebay.ph says the member doesn't exist.

hope ebay gets to the bottom of this, someone's using their name illegaly.

What you received was a phishing email.

Scammers steal and use eBay and PayPal logos all the time. Don't trust the logo, just as you wouldn't trust a link or a button. Don't trust the 'From' line either... all these things can be forged very easily.

Do not click on any of the links in that email. Some of the links or buttons in these emails are designed when they are clicked to install on the user's machine: spyware, snoopware, scumware, "re-direct" (hijacking) software, Trojans, and/or key-logging software. The key-logging software can record the user's keystrokes, save them in a file, and transmit that file to some unknown person at some remote site, at this person's request. Thus, some stranger could access all the user's passwords and login names to any site the user might visit, as well as credit card #'s, etc. if the unsuspecting user has entered this information.

If you have clicked on a link in that email, delete your cookies, cache, and temporary internet files, change your passwords, and run a virus scan. If you have spyware software, run a trojan scan.
